Suede Shoes

I am a shoe-addict. Well, my wardrobe is the evidence since I have almost 15 pairs. I’m no celebrity but I do find a way to wear them. Trust me, I do. I make it a point to rotate using them at least once a week. One purchase of mine was a cream suede loafers from Gola. Actually, I was planning to buy a bag on that day but ended up with the shoe instead. The interior was soft and the shoe was really comfortable. Plus it was sold at 50% off. Great buy indeed.

The real challenge began when I started wearing them. Yes they were nice to wear but they easily get dirty. I could not wear them during rainy days and I have to be very cautious where I go. Obviously in spite of my care, it still got dirty through time. I do not have a suede cleaner or even know how to clean it. And I saw another black suede topsider that really looked nice. I’m having second thoughts about it because it is hard to maintain.

Polka Dots

Prints have always caught my eye. Well, not all. Most of my clothes have prints in them and they are of different scales and colors. Today, I chose to wear a black and white outfit. I used a white on black polka dots button-down top, black jeans, white loafers, belt and watch. I love this ensemble because it is very versatile. It looks hip, young and fashionable. The polka dots make a great detail that adds flair to the entire outfit.

The polka dots gained popularity in Britain in the late 19^th century. It is commonly used in children’s clothing and toys since it creates a playful and young vibe. It was also linked with Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera who used the pattern in a lot of her clothes in the 80s and 90s. Aside from the clothes, the prints were also featured on her perfume boxes like the Carolina Herrera and Herrera for Men. The pattern has always been around even if fashion evolved. It is one of those patterns that would never go out of style as long as infused in a very coordinated outfit.
